The University of Hyderabad (UoH) was born in 1974 in ‘The Golden Threshold’ (GT) in the heart of the city, which was bequeathed to the university by Sarojini Naidu’s family. It later housed the Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Communication, the only school in the university to be named after an individual. Currently, the Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning functions from its premises. The university has developed the place into a cultural hub.
